Ground

What Items Am I Prohibited From Bringing Into the Ground?

The following articles must not be brought within the Ground - knives, fireworks, smoke canisters, air-horns, whistles, drums, musical instruments, flares, bottles, weapons, dangerous or hazardous items, laser devices, glass vessels, poles and any article that might be used as a weapon and/or compromise public safety.  Any person in possession of such items will be refused entry to the Ground.

Alcohol:
No alcohol shall be brought into the Ground at Twenty 20, International or other major matches. At domestic matches other than Twenty 20, a maximum of 4 cans of beer or equivalent or 70cl of wine may be brought into the Ground.

What facilities are there for spectators arriving at The Rose Bowl with babies and very young children?

Baby changing facilities are available within the Pavilion. Although this area is designated as being for members only, on match-days we do permit non-members requiring such facilities to utilise them. The stewards are briefed on this procedure and those situated at the doors to the Pavilion will be able to guide you more directly to the baby changing facilities within the ground.  As part of the ongoing redevelopments The Rose Bowl is looking to increase the number of baby changing facilities around the ground so that they are easily accessible to all spectators.

The Rose Bowl does not have a designated seating area for any persons attending with a buggy. For domestic cricket matches we allow buggies to be positioned on the flat open section behind the top row of seats around the majority of the ground providing they do not obstruct an aisle or impede the exits. Aisles and exits must not be obstructed for safety reasons.

For major matches we do not permit buggies to be taken around the ground and, on arrival, guests will be requested to leave it in a designated area.

Please note that babes-in-arms under the age of 2 may be brought into the ground free of charge, provided they do not occupy a separate seat.

What if I'm in a wheelchair?

As space is restricted, a limit of one helper per wheelchair is permitted. Those wishing to purchase or enquire about wheelchair enclosure tickets should contact the Ticket Office on 0870 243 0291 where further information and help will be available.

Am I Allowed to Bring in a Kirpan?

The Rose Bowl firmly believes that people should have the right to demonstrate their religious beliefs and that the Rose Bowl‟s role in the community should be used positively to encourage social inclusion whenever it is safe and practical to allow this to happen.

Therefore, Sikhs who have demonstrated their commitment to the faith by going through the Amrit process will be welcomed at the Rose Bowl on match-days and at other times.

However, as the kirpan is a ceremonial dagger, The Rose Bowl has a “duty of care” to everyone who enters the ground. Therefore, the Rose Bowl has created a policy which respects the rights of Sikhs but also respects the rights of others and the Rose Bowl‟s regulatory obligations with regard to safety.

Process for entering The Rose Bowl wearing a kirpan:

  • People wishing to wear a kirpan will be allowed to do so upon production of a “validation letter” from the Rose Bowl. This should be shown to Stewards upon request when entering the ground. The purpose of this is to ensure people have smooth entry to the Rose Bowl by removing the potential for embarrassment or Steward‟s acting incorrectly at the turnstiles.
  • To obtain a “validation letter”, spectators must contact the Rose Bowl in advance. The spectator will be requested to provide a certificate of baptism or letter of endorsement from their Gurdwara Sahib or other nationally recognised Sikh organisation; upon receiving this, the Rose Bowl will issue a “validation letter”.
  • People will also need to sign a disclaimer which waives the individual‟s right to make any claims against the Rose Bowl, its servants or agents or Directors should anything happen as a result of them wearing the kirpan.
  • The kirpan must be sheathed and restrained with cord in accordance with religious requirements. It must also be covered with a material scarf wrapped repeatedly around the waist.
  • The kirpan must be concealed and not immediately obvious (by shape, size or visibility) at any time during the spectators time at the Rose Bowl.
  • If the kirpan is ever drawn or made visible then the individual will be asked to leave the ground and a decision will be made regarding further action.

Yes, Hampshire does have reciprocal membership with Essex, Sussex and Kent.  This arrangement entitles Hampshire members to watch cricket at these clubs free of charge providing Hampshire are not playing that team.

Executive Club

Can I bring guests into The Executive Club?

Yes. We’d be delighted for you to show off your Executive Club to non-members. Each member receives a guest voucher ticket or card with their membership packs which allows guests access to twelve days of cricket at no additional cost. This excludes Twenty20 matches.

Does my membership allow me access to the Robin Smith Suite at a major match or International game?

No. Executive Club membership is only valid for domestic matches played at The Rose Bowl. However, you can purchase general admission tickets within the members area at a discounted price for these games. The Robin Smith Suite reverts back to a hospitality suite for all major matches.

Can I eat in the bistro restaurant at other times throughout the year?

No. Unfortunately the bistro restaurant is only open on match days.

Can I buy additional guest tickets for other games and Twenty20 matches?

Yes. The standard day fee for a guest to upgrade into the Executive Club is £50 per guest for Twenty20 and CB40 matches and £25.00 for LV=County Championship matches. This fee will only provide access to the suite,  food and drink will still need to be purchased at an additional cost. Guest upgrade tickets can be bought from the ticket office and payment can be made in advance or on the day.

If I buy tea, coffee or other beverages from the Atrium or Derek Shackleton Bar can I bring these drinks into the Executive Club?

Yes you can. However it is worth noting that The Executive Club now benefits from a professional ‘barista – type’ coffee machine providing a high quality blend of coffee, tea and hot chocolate using only the best produce.

If I buy food from the Atrium am I able to bring it up into the Executive Club?

No. Due to the newly refurbished kitchen in The Robin Smith Suite, there will now be an exclusive and cooked-to-order bistro menu available for Executive Club members. As a result of this, Executive Club members will not be permitted to bring food up into the Robin Smith Suite which has either been made at home or purchased from other points in the ground.

When are the complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits served?

Complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits are available until the scheduled lunch interval during LV=County Championship matches and 3 hours from the ground opening time for 1 day matches. However, the extensive coffee and pastry menu will be available throughout the match.

Is there a dress code for the Executive Club?

In keeping with the surroundings, we request that all Executive Club Members adhere to a smart / casual dress code.  Jeans are acceptable, providing that they are not torn or scruffy. However, please note: we do not allow running trainers, un-tailored shorts, vests, bare chests, football shirts, rugby shirts or open-toed sandals for men. Whilst there is no strict rule on shirts our preference would be that men wear collared shirts (including polo shirts and polo necked jumpers).

What time does the bistro restaurant serve food?

The bistro restaurant will be open during day matches from 11:30 until 15:00. During evening games or day / night games, the restaurant will serve food from the moment the gates open until the end of the first innings. These timings will be under constant review and will be changed if there is the demand for it.

Do I need to book a table in the restaurant or can I just turn up on the day?

The bistro restaurant is now extremely popular during all games, so it is always worth booking. For busier games such as the Twenty20 matches it is worth booking at least a week to two weeks in advance. To do this call our main reception on 023 8047 2002 and they will be able to divert your call.

Can I bring my children into The Executive Club?

Yes. Whilst children are allowed, we do not deem the Executive Club to be a particularly appropriate environment for them.

Those children who are under 5 or Junior members will not need any additional accreditation and can enter the suite at no additional cost, providing that they are accompanied by an Executive Club member.

Children over 5 and under 16 will be charged £15 for a day upgrade ticket which can be purchased from the Ticket Office either on the day or in advance.

Please note that if children are brought into the Executive Club, the card holding member will be responsible for their behaviour. The Executive Club has been designed to create a sophisticated and exclusive area, for members and likeminded business professionals. With this in mind, child-sized portions of food or drink will not be available from the bistro restaurant or bar.
