Royals, Ervine and Adams are t20 MVPs
Jimmy Adams celebrates one of his two unbeaten centuries
Hampshire Royals players, Jimmy Adams and Sean Ervine are two of the top-five most valuable players in the Friends Provident t20 competition, according to the official FTI MVP ratings.
Ervine is placed third with 162 points, while Adams is fifth with 156 points.
The news comes as the Royals go into the final weekend of the competitions’ group stages – a massive week for the team as they look to book their place in the quarter finals of the t20 cup with victory over the Middlesex Panthers.
With only two games left to play, the Royals know that a win on Friday against the Panthers virtually qualifies them for the next stage, and takes them one step closer to appearing in front of their home fans on Finals Day at The Rose Bowl.
Another big performance from Hampshire’s big hitters could also see them claim top spot from Northants’ Chaminda Vaas.

Sean Ervine has been impressive across all forms of the game this year. He leads the FTI CB40 MVP, is second in the FTI overall MVP and is up to third in the FTI FPt20 MVP.
He has scored 356 runs at a strike rate of 1.46 in t20 including belligerent knocks against Essex and Somerset where he made 74 off 49 balls and 53 off 31 respectively.
He took 4-12 versus the Gladiators and 3-28 against Surrey Lions in successive matches as the Royals fought for a foothold in the South Group.
Victory against Middlesex Panthers on Saturday, when Ervine was again to the fore with 2-32 and 20 not out to seal the win, sees them favourites to sneak the fourth qualifying spot.

Ervine is congratulated after taking a wicket
Jimmy Adams has been the standout batsman in this season's t20 to date. He heads the run-scoring list with 551 runs from 14 matches overtaking Jonathan Trott's record aggregate from last year of 525 albeit from just 11 games.
Adams has scored 27% of Hampshire Royals competition runs, three times scoring more than 50% of their match total. He also leads the overall list of t20 boundary-hitters having scored 66 fours.
He has two unbeaten hundreds to his name, two other scores of more than 60 and has only failed to reach double figures in two games. He is 8th in the FTI overall MVP.
