Additional Entrance to The Rose Bowl is approved
Additional Entrance to The Rose Bowl is granted Planning Permission
The Rose Bowl is delighted to announce that planning permission has been granted by Eastleigh Borough Council, for an additional entrance to the ground.
The new entrance is at the southern end of The Rose Bowl’s 150-acre site with direct access to Moorhill Road and almost directly opposite the two existing public entrances. The new entrance will be used as a vehicle entrance and exit on major match and event days.
Rose Bowl Plc Chairman, Rod Bransgrove commented, “This is more fantastic news for The Rose Bowl and adds further credence to our stated objective of becoming the finest cricket stadium in the country”.
Rose Bowl plc Managing Director, Glenn Delve stated, “This is a great fillip for our major event visitors as we will be able to reduce the access and egress times to The Rose Bowl even further.”
The new southern entrance will complement the new Emergency Access road and dedicated pedestrian access that were put in to the ground earlier this year. The combined effect of the measures implemented so far, has already been to significantly reduce the egress times following our two most recent major events (The Who concert in June - 15,000 spectators and the NatWest Series One Day International between England and India in August - 20,000 spectators).
Councillor Rupert Kyrle, Chair of The Hedge End, West End and Botley Local Area Committee said, “The Borough Council welcomes The Rose Bowl’s new road access direct on to the A27, it makes good sense. The access can be used only on major event days but it will significantly improve visitor management and reduce vehicle pressure on West End village, particularly at the end of major events. It is a win for The Rose Bowl and a win for our residents.”
