Chance to Shine Sign for Hampshire Cricket

LV= County Championship shirts to show the Chance to Shine logo across the middle

The Cricket Foundation have announced that Hampshire Cricket is the latest county to support the foundation’s charitable Chance to Shine (supported by Brit Insurance) campaign. The club’s LV= County Championship shirts will show the “Chance to Shine supported by Brit Insurance” logo across the middle.

Hampshire is the first First Class county to show its support for Step up to the Crease with a shirt logo. Their Championship game at The Rose Bowl against Lancashire [29th July – 1st August] will be the first game in which the Chance to Shine logo will be present on the shirts.

Throughout 2010, Chance to Shine is running a public fundraising appeal, “Step up to the Crease!”, which encourages schools and clubs to donate to keep the ambitious programme going.

Wasim Khan, Chief Executive of The Cricket Foundation said: “We are delighted that Hampshire Cricket is leading the way by supporting our “Step up to the Crease” campaign in this unique way. The support of counties is vitally important to spread the word and encourage everyone to back our fundraising appeal.”

Hampshire Chairman Rod Bransgrove said: “The Cricket Foundation’s Chance to Shine campaign is such an important initiative for schools and clubs both locally in Hampshire and across England. We know, as a Division One county, we have a responsibility to show our support for such an important programme and we’re pleased that a unique set of events this year, has allowed us to demonstrate this on our LV= County Championship shirts.”

Hampshire player, Dominic Cork recently supported Brit Insurance National Cricket Day at Kings Worthy School in Winchester, joining children for cricket in the classroom and the playground. He said of the announcement: “We wholeheartedly support Chance to Shine. I’ve seen, first-hand, the effect the programme is having in schools and clubs and hope others will follow our lead and support the “Step up to the Crease” fundraising appeal.”
