DEBENTURE SCHEME EXTENDED DUE TO POPULARITY
DEBENTURE SCHEME EXTENDED DUE TO POPULARITY
Rose Bowl PLC can confirm that due to on-going demand, sales of The Rose Bowl Debenture Scheme will remain open into the New Year.
The Scheme, which offers participants a 5% annual bonus on their investment was originally due to close at the end of November but due to its outstanding success, the decision has been taken to extend the offer period. More than 400 debentures have already been taken up, raising over £1.75 million towards the wider £48m redevelopment of The Rose Bowl.
The Scheme's Platinum tier sold out within a month and fans of Hampshire and England cricket have continued to be attracted by both the sporting and financial benefits on offer.
The Debenture Scheme gives participants the rights to buy face value tickets for the best seats at The Rose Bowl for all International Matches, Domestic Finals, Twenty20 Cup matches and other domestic competition Quarter Finals and Semi Finals held at the home of Hampshire Cricket between 2010 and 2016.
In addition to the 5% annual bonus, the Debenture Scheme is designed to enable participants to recover their initial investment, when the agreement comes to an end in December 2016 or at the end of 2013 by means of an early withdrawal provision.
Building work has already started on two new stands, either side of the main pavilion, providing covered seating for a further 4,800 spectators. The stands will also feature luxurious Executive Boxes and Corporate Lounges with fantastic views over the playing surface. These are expected to be completed in time for the start of the 2010 cricket season, and will be available for Debenture participants when England host Australia in a NatWest Series One Day International on 22nd June.
The two new stands are part of a wider project that will enhance the spectator experience at The Rose Bowl and turn the innovative venue into one of the country's premier sporting arenas. The project, which will increase the ground's capacity up to 25,000 (making it the second largest cricket ground in the country), will also feature a new 175- bedroom hotel plus improved facilities and access. The development is due to be completed in time for The Rose Bowl to host its first Test Match (England v Sri Lanka) in 2011.
The Rose Bowl will host a minimum 19 days of International Cricket up to the end of 2016. These will include One Day Internationals between England and Australia in 2010 & 2013 while India will play a Test Match against England at The Rose Bowl in 2014.
Sales of both the Gold and Silver debenture have been above expectation. The Scheme offers cricket fans the opportunity to buy tickets for their reserved seats within The Rose Bowl's premium areas;
- The Gold debenture costs £5000. This will be for a premium seat in the exclusive roof top terrace above the main pavilion. Holders will have access to a dedicated bar with inclusive drinks.
- The Silver debenture costs £2500. This will be for a seat in the new West or East Stands which will have a dedicated bar area for debenture holders.
Commenting on the decision to extend the Scheme, Rose Bowl PLC Chairman Rod Bransgrove said;
"The Debenture Scheme has been a huge success for The Rose Bowl and I thank everybody who has chosen to be part of an exciting future here at Hampshire. Given the financial pressures that many face I have been pleasantly surprised at the number of cricket fans who have taken an interest in the Scheme. As these numbers show no sign of dropping, we have taken the decision to extend the Scheme into the New Year. Work has now commenced on our two new stands, which will further enhance the spectator experience at The Rose Bowl and I look forward to welcoming all of our Debenture participants for the arrival of Australia next summer".
