Friends Provident t20 Finals Day
Saturday 14th August 2010 (11.30 start)
The Rose Bowl
Hampshire stick with the squad that has got them to Friends Provident t20 Finals Day for Saturday’s climax. That means probable starts for those that beat the Warwickshire Bears in the quarter-finals, with the possibility of Simon Jones playing if required.
Notable absentees include Kevin Pietersen and Michael Lumb, with the latter being injured in Hampshire’s game against Somerset earlier in the week. Pietersen will not play, despite being made available by England, as the decision has been made to retain consistency in team selection.
Captain, Dominic Cork and all-rounders, Sean Ervine and Dan Christian also picked up knocks against Somerset but coaching staff are hopeful they will be involved.
Youngsters Hamza Riazzudin, Liam Dawson and Chris Benham are all included in the 14-man squad to potentially step in if necessary.

The Oppositions:
Standing in Hampshire’s way in the day’s opening match are Essex Eagles, who have West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo and England batsman Alastair Cook in their ranks.
Hampshire met the Eagles in the Group Stages, coming out on the wrong side of a result both times. Ravi Bopara has been the scourge of Hampshire so far this season. In both matches that he’s been available for – both at The Rose Bowl – his batting has frustrated Giles' team. The England star scored a career-best 94 in the t20 group match and put up a superb defensive batting performance to earn Essex a draw in a rain-affected County Championship match.
In the second Semi-Final, which starts at 1500hrs, the Somerset Sabres take on the Nottinghamshire Outlaws. The Sabres were beaten finalists last year, while Notts have also endured the heartbreak of finishing runners-up, in 2006. Two England bowlers with experience of that Trent Bridge final, Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann, are also available to Notts this time.
A tight bowling display from the Outlaws in this year’s quarter-final helped them to a 13-run win that ended Sussex’s hopes of retaining the trophy.
Craig Kieswetter’s timely return to form helped Somerset beat Northamptonshire Steelbacks to book their trip to the south coast, and Somerset are further boosted by the return of destructive West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard, who played such a key role in their dominance of the South Group.
