Adams and Briggs Top t20 Performers Going into Quarter Finals
Danny Briggs was fifth-highest wicket-taker in the FPt20 group stages
Jimmy Adams finished the FP t20 Group stages as leading run-scorer in the competition, while Danny Briggs was in top five wicket takers.
Hampshire Royals' Jimmy Adams finished the Friends Provident t20 Group stages as the leading run-scorer in the competition.
The left-handed opener, who is having a tremendous season across all forms, scored 582 runs in the 16 games he played, giving him an average of over 36 runs per game. 366 of his runs have come in boundaries including 69 fours and 15 sixes.
Highlights include the centuries he scored against Glamorgan and Surrey – both at The Rose Bowl.
There was also good news for young spin-bowler Danny Briggs, who goes into the knock-out stages of the competition in the top 5 wicket-takers according to the FTI MVP Rankings.
Briggs has taken 24 wickets in his 16 matches, leaving him hot on the trail of Yorkshire’s Adil Rashid and Lancashire’s Steve Parry, who have taken 26 apiece. Somerset’s Kieron Pollard and Alfonso Thomas lead the way with 28 and 31 respectively.
The highlight of Briggs’ campaign so far is undoubtedly the 3 wickets he took for an incredible 5 runs against Kent – the joint second best figures ever recorded for a 4-over stint.
Both players will be looking to improve on those figures when the Royals travel to Edgbaston to take on Warwickshire in the quarter-finals of the FP t20 Cup next Monday [26th July].
