New signing Michael Lumb top-scored with 66 for Hampshire as they beat Sussex by six wickets in Sunday's Friends Provident Trophy match at The Rose Bowl.
Lumb's highest knock for the county helped Hampshire to a victory that boosts their bid to reach the semi-finals.
Sussex, who chose to bat first, were bowled out for 201 and were indebted to opener Richard Montgomerie who scored a defiant 89. His was the ninth wicket to fall, run out in the last over.
Shane Warne took 3-33 off his 10 overs, with new-ball pair Stuart Clark and Dimi Mascarenhas returning respective figures of 2-26 and 1-26. Clark had Chris Adams, the Sussex skipper, caught behind for a duck.
In the Hampshire reply, Michael Carberry and John Crawley fell in quick succession to make it 80-3 in the 22nd over.
But left-handers Lumb and Sean Ervine shared a fourth-wicket stand of 82 before Lumb's dismissal. Ervine, who slammed the winning boundary, finished unbeaten on 57 as Hampshire cruised to their target with 11 balls to spare.
SUSSEX 201 (49.4 overs): Montgomerie 89, Warne 3-33, Clark 2-26, Ervine 1-26; HAMPSHIRE 202-4 (48.1 overs): Lumb 66, Ervine 57 not out.
HAMPSHIRE won by six wickets.
* Hampshire's next match in the Friends Provident Trophy is against Glamorgan at Swansea on Sunday, June 3.
