Hughes is considered one of Australia's hottest young stars

Hampshire new-boy Phil Hughes has been selected for the Australia test squad to face India in October. Hughes has been absent from the International set-up for a while through injury and joined Hampshire to gain match practise ahead of an Ashes Winter.
The batsman arrived at The Rose Bowl at the end of August and has so far played just one full match for the side, scoring 32 and taking a fine diving catch in a Clydesdale Bank 40 fixture against the Kent Spitfires (read more here).
The India v Australia series – which includes two Tests and three One Day Internationals – starts on the 1st of October with a warm-up match on the 27th September, meaning Hughes is unlikely to miss any of the end of Hampshire’s season.
"The squad we have selected sees the return from injury of Phillip Hughes," Andrew Hilditch, the chairman of selectors, said. "[It] includes a very good mix of experience and new young talent with Steven Smith, Hughes and two young fast bowlers in Peter George and Josh Hazlewood."
Australia: Ricky Ponting (capt), Michael Clarke (vice-capt), Doug Bollinger, Peter George, Nathan Hauritz, Josh Hazlewood, Ben Hilfenhaus, Phillip Hughes, Michael Hussey, Mitchell Johnson, Simon Katich, Marcus North, Tim Paine (wk), Steven Smith and Shane Watson.
