Hampshire beat Kent by 7 wickets
Kent: 136 (33.4 ov)
Hampshire: 140-3 (25.0 ov)
Hampshire registered a fifth win of the season to move third in the Second XI Trophy Table (Zone B), thanks to a fine display from Michael Lumb with the bat.
His 48, combined with good knocks from Liam Dawson (31*) and Chris Benham (32), helped see the visitors to a 7-wicket victory within 25 overs.
For Lumb, it marks an important stepping stone on his journey back to first team action, having been given some much needed rest after his exploits in the IPL and heroics at the t20 World Cup.
He, and his fellow batsmen, had their job made much easier by a commanding performance from the bowling attack who had limited Kent to a paltry 136 all out.
James Tomlinson (2-28) and Jamie Miller (2-19) led the way, with Hamza Riazuddin, David Balcombe and Benny Howell also all taking a wicket each.
The result could give a vital psychological advantage to Hampshire, who play Kent in the Second Eleven Championship over the next three days, before the First XI squad (many of whom could come from this team) come here at the weekend looking for victory in the Clydesdale Bank 40.
