Late Delivery of Membership Cards - Update by Stuart Robertson

Late delivery of Membership Cards

Firstly I would like to apologise sincerely for the late delivery of membership cards this year.

I would also like to provide a detailed explanation of why the cards are late. I would like to start by saying that we have not simply operated the same system as in previous years only worse this time around…on the contrary.

Last autumn we installed a state-of-the-art, class-leading ticket and membership system to replace our old, out-dated system that was in danger of ‘collapsing’ at any moment. We also have been working on a completely new entrance and gate system which, when installed will provide much better security to the ground and importantly for paying members, will greatly reduce the possibility of people cheating their way into the ground for free.

These are all important developments that the ground needs to undertake.

The difficulty this year has arisen because although the new ticketing system and the new entrance system are both the best in their field, they have not worked together before and although we received assurances that they could integrate successfully, this has proven not to be the case. They will fully integrate in June – obviously too late for the start of the season.

The membership cards for this new integrated system will be ‘intelligent’ cards, which will be read by turnstiles, hand-held readers, tills etc. As they were to be provided by the entrance system provider, they were delayed along with the unsuccessful integration.

In summary, we have been let down by the delayed deployment of a fantastic new system, that will eventually provide great benefits to us all.

Once again, apologies for this delay and I trust that you understand that we have taken half a step backwards to take two steps forward to a much improved system in the future.

Finally, I would like to ask for your patience and understanding, particularly when dealing with our Customer Service Team who are doing a very good job and trying very hard to address all issues in this tricky start to what should be an exciting season for Hampshire Cricket.

Yours sincerely,
