Hampshire Hawks returned to winning ways in the Twenty20 Cup, beating South Group leaders Middlesex Crusaders by a narrow six-run margin.
Batting first on a slow pitch, Hampshire were indebted to Michael Carberry (37) and Ian Harvey (31), in reaching their total of 133 for 8 from 20 overs. Tim Murtagh was the pick of the Middlesex bowlers, taking 3 for 15.
In reply, Nantie Hayward took the first three wickets in a ferocious down-wind burst. With Dimi Mascarenhas also turning in an outstanding spell of 3 for 12 from his 4 overs, Hampshire were able to keep the Crusaders at arm's length, despite some late hitting from former Hampshire star Shaun Udal (40no).
The Hawks next home match is against the Surrey Brown Caps on Monday 23rd to be staged on under The Rose Bowl's world class floodlights.
The action starts at 7:00pm and tickets cost £15* per adult in advance, £20 on the day and only £5 for juniors.
