Planning Consent Received for Rose Bowl Development
Eastleigh Borough Council have unanimously approved The Rose Bowl's planning application for the £45 million development of the site.
The development will include the construction of two new spectator stands providing covered seating for a further 5,000 spectators together with a range of hospitality, media and spectator facilities.
In addition, a 175-bedroom hotel will be built around the northern end of the bowl, overlooking the pitch. The hotel will contain a high class spa and extensive conferencing facilities. At major cricket matches, all of the hotels pitch-facing rooms will convert to hospitality suites or world-class media facilities.
Finally, the existing 9-hole Golf Course will be transformed into a fabulous 18-hole course with a number of spectacular 'signature' holes.
Rod Bransgrove, Rose Bowl Plc Chairman said: 'This decision is good news for The Rose Bowl and English cricket in general as it represents one more important step on our journey to build a truly world class stadium and the first Model Test Match ground.'
Glenn Delve, Rose Bowl Plc Group Managing Director added: 'I would like to thank the Members of Eastleigh Borough Council for approving our application which allows us to move to the next stage in the development of this fabulous stadium, a facility which will bring enormous economic, social, sporting and community benefits to Eastleigh and South Hampshire in general.
