Second XI Defeated After Second Innings Collapse
Northamptonshire beat Hampshire by 8 wickets in the Second Eleven Champsionship
Northamptonshire Second XI v Hampshire Second XI
Second XI Championship
Milton Keynes
Start: Tuesday 4th May 2010
Summary
Northamptonshire Second XI win by 8 wickets.
Hampshire: 132 & 71
Northamptonshire: 172 & 33
A terrible second innings in which Hampshire registered just 71 runs proved to be the turning point in this Second XI Championship match away to Northamptonshire.
Finely balanced after a first innings in which Northants led by 40 runs, the Hants boys struggled to make it in to double figures as the whole team fell in fewer than 22 overs.
That left Northants with the simple task of scoring 32 to win – a job that took them fewer than 10 overs to complete, despite the best efforts of David Balcombe.

David Balcombe's 4-55 wasn't enough to save Hampshire from defeat
The right arm medium fast bowler took two of Northants top order for ducks in the 9.1 over spell to add to his 2 wickets in the first innings, but Northants confirmed the win to see Hampshire to their second defeat in the Championship.
Two losses out of two mean Hampshire will be looking to turn things around against Essex in two weeks' time.
