Two wins out of two for Second XI in the SET.
Northamptonshire Second XI v Hampshire Second XI
MIlton Keynes
Monday 3rd May 2010
Summary
Hampshire Second XI win by 87 runs.
Hampshire: 249
Northamptonshire: 162
Hampshire’s good start to the Second XI Trophy continued against Northamptonshire with an 87 run win at Milton Keynes.
On a damp pitch an excellent 83 with the bat from Liam Dawson and a 5 wicket haul from Chris Wood look sure to see them back knocking on the door of the first team, where an injury to Kabir Ali may well see Wood, particularly, promoted sooner rather than later.
Special mention should also go to young off spinner, Jamie Millar, who, having bowled consistently well so far this season, was given just 1½ overs here, but took 2 wickets for just 10 runs in the process.
Having beaten Gloucestershire by 6 wickets in their opening match, the team started well, racking up nearly 150 runs for just the loss of Benny Howell (10), and despite a slight wobble in the middle order, when Hants lost 3 wickets for just 5 runs, the visitors still managed to make 249 in their 50 overs.
In came the bowling attack, who removed all of Northants top three for single figures, leaving them floundering on 37-3. And despite a mini-resurgence in the middle order, Northants were all out for 162, having stayed in for just 44 overs.

Liam Dawson scored 83
The result left Hampshire with a 100 percent record. Next up, a home match against Essex.
