Official Naked Hawk Charity Calendar Launch

Michael Carberry - "Mr January"

The official launch of the Naked Hawks charity calendar is taking place at Sainsbury’s Hedge End on Saturday 27th October.

Hampshire’s first team players were keen to pose for a 2008 charity calendar in aid of a good cause.  The players decided that raising awareness of one of the most serious illnesses effecting the male population was an appropriate cause to support.  Prostate cancer is the most common non-skin-related cancer in men.  A man dies from prostate cancer every four minutes in the UK.  In men over 60 years of age, the illness effects one in six.  These staggering statistics emphasise why cancer research is so important and the Naked Hawks were pleased to support the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation.

The Prostate Cancer Research Foundation has two aims, the first to promote independent worldwide research into all aspects of prostate cancer; and the second to spread the crucial knowledge gathered from research as far afield as possible, via an internationally recognised forum, attended by the world’s top prostate cancer experts.

The 2008 charity calendar features most of the Hawks in a variety of striking poses with only some tactfully positioned cricket equipment hiding their modesty.  On Saturday several Naked Hawks will be at Sainsbury’s Hedge End between 10:00am and 2:30pm to sign calendars.  Representatives from Prostate Cancer Research will be raising awareness and providing information on the day.  Sainsbury’s are showing their support for the Naked Hawks charity calendar by distributing and selling them at six local stores on a non-profit basis.  Hampshire Cricket would like to thank Sainsbury’s Hedge End for hosting the launch event and selling calendars in their local stores.

The Naked Hawk 2008 charity calendar is on sale for £10, and is available online at www.NakedHawks.com
