Rose Bowl plc Welcomes Judge's Decision Regarding the Hotel Judicial Review
The following statement is issued by the board of Rose Bowl plc in relation to an application for a Judicial Review into Eastleigh Borough Council’s support of the Rose Bowl redevelopment scheme:
We are pleased to note that the Judge agreed with the procedures and actions taken by Eastleigh Borough Council in supporting the further development of The Rose Bowl. The application has caused some considerable frustration and delay for those working hard trying to deliver the scheme. So the Judge’s dismissal of the application, whilst expected, is welcome and subject to there being no appeal to the decision, now allows us to proceed with the next stages of our delivery plan.
We believe the Council has always acted in a considered manner when evaluating the merits of our project and we are delighted to have them as a partner in delivering a venue that will not just benefit Hampshire Cricket, but will be of long term value to the people of Eastleigh and the wider region of South Hampshire.
Commenting on the hearing and the on-going redevelopment, Glenn Delve, Managing Director of Rose Bowl plc said;
“At this time we are focusing on delivering the first stage of our redevelopment and, working with our construction partners, aim to have the two new covered stands which will take our capacity up to 25,000 for major matches, ready in advance of when England play Australia here in June. Work has also already begun on the new 18 hole golf course and infrastructure improvements.
With regard to the hotel, we will now sit down with the Council and other stakeholders, and agree the revised timetable for delivering the new hotel and conference facility that will help in making The Rose Bowl one of the most iconic and respected facilities of its kind in the country.”
