A look ahead to Friday night's t20 clash between the Hampshire Royals and the Middlesex Panthers at The Rose Bowl.

The Rose Bowl

This Friday is judgement day for The Hampshire Royals as they look to book their place in the quarter finals of the Friends Provident t20 Cup with victory over the Middlesex Panthers.

With only two games left to play, the Royals know that a win virtually qualifies them for the next stage, and takes them one step closer to appearing in front of their home fans on Finals Day at The Rose Bowl.

After Wednesday night's victory by Somerset over Glamorgan, Hampshire will qualify for the quarter finals if they beat Middlesex on Friday unless (a) Hampshire then lose to Sussex and (b) Surrey win VERY comfortably in their remaining game.

As such, Giles White has named an unchanged squad from that which beat the Panthers less than a week ago.

That means Jimmy Adams and Michael Carberry – who registered an 89 partnership in Uxbridge – should open for the hosts. Club captain, Dimi Mascarenhas is also a possibility to return to the team, following his long term injury.

The Opposition:

Friday’s visitors may be buoyed by the potential return of England stars Andrew Strauss and Eoin Morgan. The pair were involved in their country’s clash with Bangladesh last Saturday, but with England out of action for a few weeks there’s a chance the pair will return for their club.

Middlesex’s major injury concern is Gareth Berg. The seam bowler picked up a toe injury in Saturday’s match against the Royals and missed Sunday’s home loss against Gloucestershire.

That result all but ended the Panthers’ hopes of qualifying for the quarter-finals of this competition. Nevertheless, a good win for the visitors on Friday would see them move level with Hampshire on points and, should other results go their way, Middlesex will retain their faint hopes of progressing.

Hampshire Squad:

4  Jimmy Adams
5  Abdul Razzaq
7  Sean Ervine
9  Nic Pothas
12  Dominic Cork
14  James Vince
15  Michael Carberry

17  Dimitri Mascarenhas
19  Danny Briggs
25  Chris Wood
27  Neil McKenzie
28  Dan Christian
84  Hamza Riazzudin
