Anticipation for this summer’s tour is running at an all-time high following the huge success of The Who's European festival shows last summer. Fans and critics alike hailed the shows as being, "Just like the good ole days," with the same, unbridled power and emotion that exemplifies a Who show. The Rose Bowl concert is expected to sell out fast.
The Who, famous for their powerful music and energy on stage, will be performing songs from their new mini rock opera, 'Wire & Glass' and material from their newly released studio album 'Endless Wire' along with their greatest hits and rarities, to the satisfaction of long-time and new fans alike.
Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey will be joined on stage by John 'Rabbit' Bundrick on keyboards, Pino Palladino on bass, Zak Starkey on drums and Simon Townshend on guitar and vocals.
Announcing the dates, Pete Townshend commented, "It goes on and on and on and on and on. It gets better and better and better and better. It is more and more fun. But this chapter is over in July 2007 so if you want to catch the new Who at their most effective for twenty years, come and join us."
Roger Daltrey was equally effusive saying, "It's great to have been around for this length of time and still be playing new material, having it so well received and people liking the music. Life doesn't get any better than that!"
The Rose Bowl has delighted music fans by staging successful summer concerts in recent years. In 2005, 35,000 Oasis fans rocked at The Rose Bowl and last summer Billy Joel performed a memorable concert as part of his first live UK tour in 12 years.
Glenn Delve , Managing Director Rose Bowl plc commented on the announcement:
“The Rose Bowl’s reputation as a spectacular concert venue is well established. I am delighted that this summer such a legendary band will be performing for the south’s music fans at The Rose Bowl.”
