The Rose Bowl Awarded 7 Match Package
ROSE BOWL AWARDED INDIA TEST
AND SIX ONE DAY INTERNATIONALS
Hampshire Cricket is proud to announce that the ECB’s Major Match Group (MMG), has awarded The Rose Bowl at least seven international matches between 2012 and 2016.
The package of matches awarded to The Rose Bowl is one of seven packages made available to the seven Test Match grounds (excluding The Brit Oval and Headingley) and was The Rose Bowl’s preferred choice. These seven packages account for just over 50% of all available major matches in this period, with the remaining matches allocated via a bid process to be run early next year.
The seven matches are:
2012: ODI, England vs South Africa
2013: ODI, England vs New Zealand
ODI, England vs Australia
2014: Test Match, England vs India
Twenty20 International, England vs Sri Lanka
2015: ODI, England vs Pakistan
2016: ODI, England vs Sri Lanka
These matches are in addition to those already won by The Rose Bowl in 2010 and 2011 which are:
2010: ODI, England vs Australia
ODI, England vs Pakistan
Twenty20 Finals Day
2011: Test Match, England vs Sri Lanka
ODI, England vs India
Hampshire Chairman Rod Bransgrove commented:
“We are absolutely delighted with the decision from the MMG which we see as a ringing endorsement of our plans to become one of the best international cricket venues in world cricket. The package we received was our number one choice and it leaves us in a very strong position to bid for other available matches in this period.”
He added
“This award comes hot on the tail of the announcement by Eastleigh Borough Council that they will be funding the new hotel at The Rose Bowl, forming a major part of our £48million ground development which will begin in September. This is certainly a very exciting time for The Rose Bowl, Hampshire Cricket and especially our loyal fans, partners and supporters, and it is for them that I am most pleased.”
