Michael Carberry
There seems no letting up in Michael Carberry’s career right now. A truncated 2009 season that nevertheless yielded four centuries and over 1,200 runs was rewarded with a call up to the England Lions squad that accompanied the full team to South Africa. A century on that tour led to him being drafted into the full squad as cover for Paul Collingwood, but the 29 year old’s presence was eventually unnecessary. However his chance came in 2010, with an appearance against Bangladesh capping a fantastic 12 months for the player. He was dropped for the second Test to make way for an additional bowler, but more flashes of brilliance like his 202 against Warwickshire in 2009, or more sprawling stops in the field, should soon see him return to the international fold.
