David Griffiths
Griffiths’ bowling has come on in leaps and bounds following his slow rehabilitation from a stress fracture of the spine. In recognition of this he was selected as one of five to join last winter’s ECB’s Fast Bowling Programme who spent time in Florida and at the MRF Fast Bowling Camp in Chennai under the guidance of Australian legend Dennis Lillee. Towards the end of last year he cemented his place in the Championship First XI and figures like 4 for 48 against Nottinghamshire showed why Giles White placed much so faith in the 24 year old. The pace bowler came through Hampshire’s Academy and has appeared regularly for the Second XI. He was apart of the England Under 19 side which beat Bangladesh on home soil in 2004 and was subsequently named in the squad for the tour of India in 2005, where he sustained his back injury.
